    Raw Diet: Day 3

    Weight: 166.2lbs (started at 170lbs)

Symptoms: Weird itch on left arm. Upset stomach.

Day 3 has been an interesting one. At 6:00 AM I woke up in a panic to find myself on the verge of vomiting. For 2 minutes I do that thing you do where you try to decide if you really are going to puke or not. Luckily it was a false alarm. I don’t know what was going on with me but hopefully I’m not turning into a plant. Funny thing is, Nicki woke up with the same puke scare hours prior to me. Was the seaweed salad bad from last night? Are we over doing it? Who knows. Onward with Day 3.

    BREAKFAST:

    - Juiced an orange, apple, and a carrot. (I’m cutting back some vegetables in case I am indeed overdoing it. Also, I don’t want to shop for fruits and veggies every two days.

    LUNCH:

    - I am getting over my cold so I decided to head into work today. I brought the rest of the fruit salad from Day 2, an orange, banana, bag of veggies, and a bag of trail mix. I washed it down with a Tazo green tea. Held me over pretty well.

    DINNER:

Nicki made a salad with the same dressing from Day 1 which was a apple cider vinegar/olive oil/garlic/sun dried tomatoes mix. This time she added sprouts into the usual concoction of leafy greens. For thirst quenching I juiced an entire pineapple, 5 celery stalks, 2 large carrots, and 2 green apples. It wasn’t the best drink yet, but I was told to cut down the sugar intake from all these fruits by juicing more veggies. Nicki made another batch of guacamole which we scooped with some tomato slices and the rest of the spicy flax seed crackers.

Overall Day 3 was much easier than yesterday. No headaches, and I actually felt a but sharper mentally. Which doesn’t mean much. But none of that guilt I usually feel after 7 Taco Bell tacos. I continue to lose weight, which again, I don’t care to much about. Lookout Day 4, I’m getting the hang of this healthy bidness.

I’m so tempted to do this Raw Food, I don’t have the will or the budget (fruits & veggies get expensive).

KassemG ftw! But why are you doing this when you don’t need to lose weight!? Are you turning into an anarexic celebrity!?

      Lokey

I tried to eat a raw meal or two every day for about a week or so before starting the raw food challenge…give the ol’ digestive system time to adjust.

How are those flax seed crackers? Any flavor at all?

Carnivore-Losing weight is just something that happens. I’m not doing this to lose weight-just to eat healthy.

Lokey-Actually yeah, the flax seed crackers are really flavorful.

      Hey Kassem,

Love the show, but I just wanted to let you know from someone who has a good amount of experience in the realm of these types of diets. Your going be have trouble in around 2-3 weeks and you may not feel well either, and it’s because it’s important for your body to have a good source of complex carbohydrates. The best raw diets are ones that are about 80% raw and 20% cooked whole grains such and brown rice and whole grain organic breads. Although it is good to do 100% raw for 2-3 weeks to clean out your body of toxins that have accumulated throughout your life.

      Sincerely,

      Blake

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
